ビートルズがデビュー前後に出演していたキャヴァン・クラブで働いていたシラ・ブラックはジョン・レノンの紹介でブライアン・エプスタインがマネージャーとなり、ジョージ・マーティンがプロデュースして歌手としてデビューしました。デビュー曲はビートルズがデビュー前から演奏していたLennon-McCartney作の「The Love of Loved」です。つまりビートルズと同じスタッフでのデビューという好待遇でした。リバプール出身歌手ではビートルズに次ぐ成功を収めました。
その後、「It's For You」「Step Inside Love」2曲のレノン・マッカートニー曲が提供されました。他にも多くのビートルズナンバーをカバーしています。
他のビートルズのメンバーとも交流があり、ジョージ・ハリスンの楽曲をレコーディングしたりリンゴ・スターと共演したりしています。リンゴ・スターはビートルズ加入前からシラ・ブラックとステージで度々共演していました。
