ジョン・レノンの最初の妻シンシア・レノンが2015年4月1日にスペインで癌のため亡くなりました。75歳でした。

I felt sad when I heard the news. Many thoughts came into my head. I remember her as a gentle person. Always quiet and in the background. She had a very calming way about her which I liked. When talking to her, she spoke very softly and always put you at ease. Cyn was a very good artist which is something people forget about. My thoughts go out to Julian.

ビートルズ最初の配偶者 シンシア・レノン

学生時代にジョンと知り合い1962年に結婚、翌年ジュリアンが生まれています。ビートルズのメンバーの初めての配偶者となりましたがビートルズがアイドルとして絶頂を迎えていたこともあり影の存在として表舞台に出ることは無く、明示的に彼女に捧げられたジョン作の曲は無いというのが定説です。それとは対照的に二人が1968年に離婚する際ジュリアンを励まそうとポール・マッカートニーがHey Judeを作ったというのが興味深いです。

離婚後は3度再婚しています。3度目と4度目の結婚の時期に重なる1978年と2005年にジョンについて自伝を出版しており、後者の方は「ジョン・レノンに恋して」という邦題で日本でも発売されました。1995年にはメリー・ホプキンのカバーで歌手デビューも果たしています。
